With physicians on call all day and inpatient physician assistant coverage around the clock, we make sure patients get rapid, expert care for their neurosurgical conditions. Our specialists treat a wide variety of neurosurgical disorders and diseases affecting the brain and spine.
Our specialists are equipped with the knowledge and technology necessary in the following areas:
- Degenerative spine disease
- Brain tumors
- Shunt implant surgery
- Image guided surgery systems
- Cranial surgery for tumors
- Spine surgery, including minimally invasive
- Intraoperative CT scan
- General surgical ICU
The Department of Neurosurgery at Long Island Jewish Medical Center has the following diagnostic capabilities:
- CT scan
- Cranial CT angiogram
- Cerebral angiography
CT and MRI technicians are on call 24/7 for emergencies.
Education and training
Long Island Jewish Medical Center is one of four hospitals neurosurgery residents rotate through. The residency program is an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)-approved neurosurgery residency with a significant research component.
Our residents are exposed to a rewarding educational experience with a diverse caseload, with special exposure to pediatric neurosurgery.
